COPYRIGHT AND OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Copyright Protection • Open Access • CC BY 4.0 • Author Rights • Responsible Reuse

Scientara Journal respects authors' intellectual-property rights while supporting broad, lawful, and responsible dissemination of scholarly research.

1. Overview

Scientara Journal is an Open Access journal and all published articles are freely available to readers immediately upon publication. This policy should be read together with the Open Access Policy, Author Guidelines, Publication Ethics Policy, Peer Review Policy, and the copyright and licence information displayed with individual published articles.

This policy explains how copyright, publishing rights, licensing, reuse, permissions, and article-level notices are handled for articles published by Scientara Journal. The policy applies only to Scientara Journal and should not be interpreted as a claim about any external membership, certification, indexing status, DOI service, preservation service, or repository agreement unless separately verified.

2. Copyright Ownership

Copyright remains with the author(s) of the published article unless otherwise stated.

Where copyright is legally owned by an employer, institution, government body, or another authorised rights holder, the ownership information should be accurately identified. Authors are responsible for confirming that they have the necessary authority to submit the manuscript and grant the publishing rights required under this policy.

Publication in Scientara Journal does not by itself transfer copyright ownership from the author(s) to the journal.

3. Licence to Publish

Following editorial acceptance and before publication, the authorised copyright holder grants Scientara Journal the necessary non-exclusive publishing licence.

This licence allows Scientara Journal to publish and reproduce the article as the Version of Record, distribute and publicly display the article, host the published article on the Scientara Journal website or platform, make the article openly available to readers, communicate and promote the published research through appropriate scholarly channels, and publish corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or other notices where necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

The publishing licence does not transfer copyright ownership to Scientara Journal. The author(s) retain copyright subject to the rights granted under the applicable Open Access licence.

4. Open Access Licence

Scientara Journal applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence to published articles.

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Under CC BY 4.0, readers may copy, share, adapt, translate, and build upon the published material, including for commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given and any applicable third-party rights are respected.

5. Responsible Reuse and Attribution

When reusing material published by Scientara Journal, users should provide clear attribution and should indicate whether changes were made. Attribution should identify the author or authors, article title, Scientara Journal, publication details, the CC BY 4.0 licence, and a link to the licence where possible.

Users should not imply endorsement by Scientara Journal or the original authors unless such endorsement has been expressly stated. Reuse should remain accurate, fair, and consistent with scholarly norms.

6. Third-Party Material

Some figures, photographs, maps, tables, datasets, or other materials included in an article may belong to third parties or may be governed by separate rights or permissions.

Readers and reuse requestors should review credit lines, acknowledgements, captions, and any permissions statements before reusing such material. Separate permission may be required even where the article itself is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

7. Author Rights and Sharing

Authors may share the published version of their article in accordance with CC BY 4.0 and the conditions stated by the journal. Authors may deposit, post, cite, share, and reuse the published article in lawful scholarly, educational, and professional contexts as long as attribution is preserved and third-party rights are respected.

If the article contains material obtained from others, authors remain responsible for ensuring that any necessary permissions were secured before publication.

8. Permissions and Copyright Complaints

Requests to reuse copyrighted material, questions about article rights, or concerns about copyright ownership should be directed to the journal or the relevant rights holder as appropriate.

If a reader or rights holder believes that content has been used without proper permission or attribution, they may contact the journal with relevant details. Scientara Journal will review copyright complaints and, where needed, take appropriate editorial or administrative action in line with its policies.

9. Article-Level Licensing Information

The copyright and licence status applicable to an article should be identified on the article page or in the article record where possible. Readers should rely on the article-level notice for the applicable licence terms, copyright statement, and any special restrictions relating to included material.

Where post-publication updates are issued, they should remain associated with the article so that the scholarly record remains transparent and accurate.

10. Relationship Between Copyright and APCs

If an Article Processing Charge applies to an accepted manuscript, the charge supports publication and open access availability. Payment of any applicable APC does not transfer copyright ownership and does not alter the author rights or licence terms stated in this policy.

Copyright, publishing rights, and APC arrangements should be understood as separate matters. APC payment does not change the scholarly, ethical, or legal requirements for reuse and attribution.
